I am finally done with the first lesson of Drawabox 🎉. This means that I will now have to move on to the notorious 250-box challenge!

I am also doing sketches with markers on paper in parallel to my drawings, but these are not really good - to improve I’m also trying to use construction (boxes and circles) to copy cartoons I find interesting - these look much better but I still struggle to translate a reference into something new. Additionally I still haven’t grasped the art of drawing from one’s shoulder which is necessary to make clean smooth lines - I am also not good at all at controlling the line thickness.

But I’m working on these things 😁, because I want to be able to:

  1. draw comics
  2. make 2D animations
  3. translate my visual 3D ideas into 2D form

The last point is important, because I also want to learn to make 3D-models with Blender in the future (both for VR and for making gadgets), but to do so, you often need to make concept art sketches. This is not easy at all, but luckily this is exactly the kind of skill that one builds with Drawabox.

Here’s my homework assignments:

I’m quite curious what the feedback is going to be 🤔
